Cork born Daragh is married to the beautiful Anne, his VERY patient and understanding wife of nearly three years. Their son, Conor, was born last December.

Brought up and educated in Ireland, Daragh came to London in 1995 and enjoyed a career in the City, spending most of that time at Cazenove & Co., but also working at JP Morgan and Barclays. Most recently, Daragh was a partner at Powe Capital Management. In May of 2008, he decided to take a career break and saw the opportunity to fulfil a lifelong ambition – an expedition to the South Pole.

Daragh and Anne recognised what a blessing it was to have such a lovely and healthy baby boy and so were inspired to make the expedition a vehicle for raising money for the children’s medical research charity SPARKS.

Daragh remains a keen amateur sportsman, playing rugby for London side Old Street, styling himself a mobile, if somewhat ageing second row forward. Sailing and skiing are Daragh’s other sporting passions.

Daragh lives with his family in Wandsworth in London.

"If Antarctica were music it would be Mozart. Art, and it would be Michelangelo. Literature, and it would be Shakespeare. And yet it is something even greater; the only place on earth that is still as it should be. May we never tame it."
